St. Peter Tri-Parish School has announced that eight of the middle school students who participated in the state level National History Day competition at Providence College in April have advanced to the National History Day Competition to be held at the University of Maryland in June. The following students received awards in recognition of their outstanding History Day projects and will travel to the national competition: Siena Algeo, grade 6, placed second for her exhibit board on Lewis and Clark; Phoebe White, grade 7, placed second for her website on Lewis and Clark; Sara Langevin and Kiley Lemieux, grade 8, placed second for their group exhibit board on the March of Dimes; Marissa Birmingham, Haeleigh DeFeo, Tess Der Manouelian, and Sophia Piperata, grade 8, won first place for their group performance on the Newsboys' Strike of 1899. Their group also received $100 each from the Labor Historical Society, as well as the Ocean State Theater Award for Group Scriptwriting.
