Rhode Island’s original beer fest, the Great International Beer Festival (GIBF), celebrates the 10th anniversary of its spring edition on Saturday, May 7, with a new location, a new partner, and the official band of Narragansett Beer.

This year’s spring festival will move outdoors for afternoon and evening sessions at Mulligan’s Island golf and entertainment complex in Cranston. The event is presented by 94 HJY and will feature performances from Rhode Island’s premiere rhythm and blues band, Steve Smith & The Nakeds.

Attendees will sample more than 250 beers from over 30 brewers. Breweries from around the country will be showcased, including Lagunitas (California), Shipyard (Maine), Woodstock (New Hampshire), Shiner (Texas), and Sam Adams (Massachusetts). Rhode Island’s own brewers will also be well represented, with Narragansett, Revival, Trinity Brewhouse, Foolproof, and Newport Storm, among others. Food will also be available. The two sessions run from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. All attendees must be 21-plus.

“We are thrilled to begin the next decade of Rhode Island’s original beer fest in an exciting new location. Moving the spring edition outdoors allows us to truly savor the season,” said GIBF founder/owner Maury Ryan. “With our new partner, 94 HJY, great entertainment from Steve Smith & The Nakeds, and an incredible variety of craft beers from around the country, we’re confident that this will be the best Beer Fest yet.”

“It’s an exciting opportunity to host one of the best beer events in the Northeast here at Mulligan’s Island,” said Michael Friedman, owner of the sporting complex. “We’ve got sunshine, fresh air, a tropical décor, and plenty of parking – it’s a perfect location to enjoy a great selection of seasonal brews.”

Tickets are $40 per person ($15 for designated drivers) and are available now at beerfestamerica.com.
