The Johnston Senior Center has what Executive Director Tony Zompa yesterday called “a great way to please your palate and pocketbook on New Year’s Eve.”
For the second time in as many years, the JSC will bring back the glory days of the one-time El Marocco Supper Club that is actually the site where the senior center now sits.
“We’ll have all kinds of delicacies,” Zompa added. “There will be everything from shrimp cocktail to rolled stuffed scrod to penne with meat sauce on our New Year’s Eve menu. And we’ve also lined up a great entertainer.”
Zompa was speaking of Vini Ames, who will again perform at the New Year’s Eve celebration, which is being catered by Marchetti’s Restaurant in Cranston.
“Many of our town’s assisted living facilities will also be preparing and providing special items,” Zompa said. “While the party is our annual New Year’s Eve Fundraiser, we want it to be first class and begin the year 2013 on a special note.”
The evening will begin at 7:30 and there will be a cash bar all night. The event culminates with a continental breakfast after the ball drops. Tickets are $40 per person and reservations are required. The event is open, however, to non-members of the centers.
“Last year’s party was an overwhelming success,” Zompa said. “That’s why we’re bringing it back with even more food and of course a great entertainer.”
