ENOUGH

Patrolman Kevin Brady reports he was dispatched to a Johnston residence on Jan. 8 to help the owner get rid of a guest who overstayed her welcome. Brady was informed on the way to the address that there was an active no-trespass order for the woman in question, and her host explained that she dropped by his house a few days before and, because of the severe drop in temperature outside, he allowed her to stay the night. But it was two days since he started asking her to leave and he finally called police to get rid of her.

Brady said he and Sgt. Stephen Altomari went into the bedroom and found the woman packing her belongings in anticipation of their arrival. Sheila Ann Craven, 52, with no formal address, was arrested and charged with felony willful trespass and violation of a no-contact order because of prior convictions for the same offense.

LOTTERY LOSER

Patrolman Derek Parascandolo reports speaking with the manager of the Shell East Side Service Station on Hartford Avenue on Dec. 22 and being told that an employee there had stolen a number of scratch lottery tickets. The manager told Parascandolo he noticed that some of the tickets looked like they were “stuffed” into the boxes rather than neatly loaded, as usual. He said he checked the video surveillance and found pictures of one of his employees taking the tickets the night of Dec. 19 and concealing them in a newspaper and then leaving the store with the newspaper later. He said he then found that five “Lucky Time 20” tickets, six “40th Anniversary” tickets, four “Holiday Winnings” tickets, six “Hold’em Poker” cards and seven “$100,000 Cash” tickets were missing. The manager told Parascandolo that was the same day the employee told him it was his last day on the job. Parascandolo forwarded the report to detectives.

Detective Thomas Dwyer reports that he called the suspect and left a message for him to call headquarters, and then went to the Convenience Plus store at Hartford and Atwood avenues, where he reviewed video of the suspect cashing in $120 worth of scratch tickets around 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 19. Dwyer said it was Jan. 2 before he had a copy of the video and called the suspect again, and the suspect told him he would come in on Jan. 5 for questioning. The man never showed up, and a warrant was issued. He was arrested on Jan. 8 and taken to headquarters, where he was booked on a charge of embezzlement and then transported to District Court, where he was scheduled for a felony screening and then released on personal recognizance.

NO LICENSE

Patrolman Robert Cardoza reports he was investigating an accident near 1501 Atwood Ave. around 7:55 p.m. on Jan. 12 when he learned that one of the drivers did not have a license. Vilma Velasquez de Ferman, 36, of 11 Bristol Ave. in Providence, was identified with her El Salvador passport. She was released with a ticket at the scene, and Scorpio Towing removed her car.

WRONG TURN

Sgt. Joseph Salvadore reports stopping a car for taking a right onto Cedar Street without using a turn signal on Jan. 12. He said he learned the passenger in the car had an outstanding warrant for violating his bail on a narcotics charge in District Court.

Juan Diego Ranero, 21, of 183 Clarence St. in Providence, was arrested and later transported to District Court for arraignment. The driver was let off with a warning.
