ALTERCATION

Patrolman Andrew J. Broccoli reports responding to Underground Billiards on Plainfield Street at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Oct. 10 for a report of an argument between two females.

Arriving officers spoke separately with the two women involved. Broccoli reports the woman he spoke with indicated she had arrived at the location to pick up her boyfriend, and that as she pulled up, the other woman noticed her and immediately began an argument. She said the other woman then “grabbed her by the hair and started punching her in the back of the head,” and also punched her in the right eye, threw her to the ground and kicked her several times.

Broccoli reports the other woman denied involvement in the altercation, but other witnesses on scene advised officers she had been the primary aggressor.

Rebecca George, 37, of 15 South Fairview St. in Johnston, was arrested and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. She was taken to Johnston police headquarters for processing and released with a summons to appear in Third District Court.

ROAD RAGE

Patrolman Michael G. Edwards reports responding with other officers to an Angell Street residence at approximately 6:38 p.m. on Oct. 1 for a report of an assault stemming from a road range incident the previous day.

Upon arrival, the calling party told police he had been involved in a road rage incident the previous afternoon. The man said the other party involved was an older white male operating a white Jeep Grand Cherokee. The incident was brief and ended when the other party pulled into a Putnam Avenue residence, the calling party told police, and it was not initially reported.

Edwards reports the calling party indicated on the day police were called, he had been traveling east on Putnam Avenue and was stopped in heavy traffic as he passed the residence at which the other man in the road rage incident had stopped his vehicle the previous day.

The calling party told police the same man was outside the residence and “began yelling and sticking up his middle finder at him,” and that he reciprocated the gesture.

At that point, the calling party told police that another, unknown man ran toward him and punched him in the face – breaking his glasses – before fleeing. The calling party told police he was unable to escape due to being stuck in traffic. He said he wished to press charges, and could identify the man who struck him. Edwards notes the area around the calling party’s eye was “red, swollen and bleeding.”

Ralph G. Giroux III, 30, of 192 Putnam Ave. in Johnston, responded to police headquarters on Oct. 14 to turn himself in on an arrest warrant. He was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, and was transported to Third District Court after processing.
