North Providence man held after task force seizes drugs, cash

A North Providence man is being held without bail after police seized 208 grams of crack-cocaine during a recent operation.

Kevin Hernandez, 23, of 9 Winona St., Building #25, Apt. #9, is charged with possession of crack-cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of crack-cocaine between one ounce and one kilo. He was ordered held at the ACI pending an April 29 bail hearing.

The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force made the arrest after executing a search warrant at Hernandez’s building at approximately 8 a.m. on April 16. The search uncovered both the drugs and $12,490 in cash, according to police.

The task force is managed by state police and comprised of members of the Providence, Pawtucket, Johnston, Central Falls, North Providence and West Warwick departments, along with federal personnel from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations.
