Mary Catherine Sullivan Flynn and Ralph Anthony DeAngelis Jr. of Atwood Ave., Johnston, have announced their engagement.

The future bride is the daughter of Rodrick Sullivan of Cranston and Catherine Zito of Johnston. She is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Providence. She is employed by Blackstone Valley Surgical Care.

The future groom is the son of Ralph and Karen DeAngelis of Johnston. He is a graduate of Johnston High School and the Community College of Rhode Island. He is employed by Gateway Healthcare, Pawtucket.

The couple met as children living in Providence. Ralph’s father was one of Mary’s baseball coaches. Over the course of 20 years, they lost touch and each married, Mary losing her first husband to brain cancer and Ralph divorcing. Mary is the mother of two children and they have a son together. They became engaged on Mother’s Day 2011. They plan on getting married September 27, 2012 at Roger Williams Park with a reception at the Ivy Garden in West Warwick.
