Lloyd J. Allen, Ret. Captain, PPD., 80, of Cranston, passed away March 1, 2012 at Home & Hospice Care of RI, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Kelly) Allen for the past 60 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Mary (Conlon) Allen. Lloyd served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he became a Providence Police officer, where he served for 36 years before retiring with the rank of captain in 1991. He received the Attorney General's Law Enforcement Award for outstanding police work in 1978.
Besides his wife he was the devoted father of Danny J. Allen of Cranston, John J. Allen of Cranston and the late Det. James L. Allen, PPD; loving father-in-law of Marguerite Allen of Johnston and loving grandfather of Jennifer Lynne Morel and Caitlin Elizabeth Allen. He was the dear brother of Mary Siedzik of Greenville, Walter Allen of Cranston and the late Robert Allen and Barbara Hoppe.
His funeral was held March 6, 2012 from Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Interment with military honors was at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
