A Johnston man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to a charge of possessing child pornography.

Nicholas Pislowski, 26, was sentenced on Oct. 24, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha. He was additionally ordered to serve five years of supervised release following the end of his prison term.

According to Neronha’s office, Pislowski entered his guilty plea in May. The charge against him stemmed from a Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation, which included a search of Pislowski’s residence.

“A forensic examination of a laptop seized from Pislowski’s home resulted in the discovery of more than 2,200 videos and images depicting minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” the statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office reads.
