Johnston High gets ready for pep rally, homecoming

Posted

Since pep rally and homecoming are just around the corner, many Johnston High School students are currently dealing with their most stressful time of the year.

All of the classes are working nonstop to finish their homecoming parade floats, while our school’s cheerleading teams are practicing continuously to perfect their pep rally routines.

Many are anxious to see the outcome of their past few months of hard work. On Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, we will see!

The pep rally will take place on Friday, Oct. 16, and will be attended by students, faculty, and staff. During the pep rally, the freshman class will experience their traditional booing, the fall sports teams of the school will be acknowledged, and the cheerleading teams will each perform their routines.

After the pep rally concludes, students will be busy at their overnighters, leading up to the following morning, which begins promptly with the homecoming parade at 10 a.m. Following the parade, an alumni breakfast in the cafeteria will be held by the student council and the Lions Club.

The homecoming football game between the Johnston Panthers and the Westerly Bulldogs will take place at 2:30 p.m. Our new field includes a section on the far right of the stands where concessions will be sold and restrooms are located. At the beginning of this game, there will be a ceremony for all the senior football players and cheerleaders. The homecoming king and queen will be announced during halftime, as well as the football basketball cheerleaders performing their pep rally routine.

The last event of our never-ending homecoming will be the homecoming dance in the cafeteria from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. This dance is open to all Johnston High students, and tickets will be sold in school the week before. At the end of the dance, the winners of Battle of the Classes and the winning floats will be announced.

We are wishing good luck to all four of the classes as well as the cheerleading teams as they prepare for these upcoming events. Also, we hope to see many of you at the homecoming parade and football game. Go Panthers!
