Johnston High PTSO to host 5th annual Holly Fair

If you’re looking for unique holiday decorations, plan on being at Johnston High School’s spacious cafeteria Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

If you’re looking to buy quality gifts while helping an important non-profit group raise money for educational purposes, plan on visiting the fifth annual Johnston High School PTSO Holly Fair.

“We are returning to the cafeteria for this year’s Holly Fair,” said Lori Agnew, one of many new members of the Parent-Teacher-Student Organization who has worked tirelessly to produce the fair. “We’ll have some ‘old’ vendors and ‘new faces,’ and there seems to be lots of interest from a number of people who deal with local products.”

Agnew also noted “the students at Johnston High School have been in full planning gear and are extremely exited about being part of our Holly Fair.”

Melissa Patrone, another new member of the PTSO, said: “The Holly Fair will be a great place to start your holiday shopping. Whether you need a gift for a co-worker, mailman, family member, or just something special for yourself, you’ll find it at the Holly Fair. We already have 50 vendors.”

Last year’s Holly Fair, which filled many of the corridors inside Johnston High, featured many unique vendors like GS Shell Designs of Hope Valley, Jazzy Girls Designs, and Lori’s Petals and Bows, just to name a few.

People who took in the 2014 Holly Fair were impressed with the quality of many vendor offerings, and Agnew and Patrone – as well as other PTSO members – hope that trend continues Saturday.

“Of course, no pre-holiday event would be complete without Santa Claus,” Agnew said. “Santa will be making a very special visit to Saturday’s Holly Fair direct from the North Pole, and word is he’s planning to bring along a few of his friends.”

In addition, Agnew and Patrone wanted it known that it’s not too late to join the list of vendors. Anyone interested in showing his or her wares Saturday should call Lori at 401-965-6332 or Patrone at 401-575-1097.

This year’s Holly Fair vendor fee is $30, and all proceeds go to help support various PTSO programs. All vendors are responsible for bringing their own table, chairs and signage, and the Johnston High group is asking each vendor to donate one item that the non-profit will use at its annual raffle table. Vendors may begin setting up their displays at 7:30 a.m.

For those who’d like to make the Holly Fair their only shopping stop of the day, Patrone announced earlier this week that “we’ll have plenty of food available.”

People who are planning to attend what promises to be the biggest and best PTSO Holly Fair in the event’s history, should enter through the cafeteria side of the school, where there’s plenty of parking in two lots.
