Johnston 9/10's fly high into District 1 final

Posted

The Johnston Little League 9-10-year-old all-stars are one win away from a district championship. After a 5-1 win over Cranston Western in its District 1 opener last week, Johnston cruised past Edgewood/South Elmwood 11-1 in the winner’s bracket final on Tuesday at Johnston Memorial Park. The win punched Johnston’s ticket for the championship round, where it would have to lose twice consecutively to be eliminated. It needs only one win to capture the championship. Edgewood/South Elmwood and Cranston Western are scheduled to meet in a loser’s bracket game Thursday to determine the other championship spot. The championship is set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Johnston. If necessary, a second game would be played on Monday.
