James Eugene Buckley, 84, formerly of King Street, Johnston, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Rhode Island Veteran’s Home, Bristol. He was the husband of Paula A. (Kanis) Buckley. They had been married for 60 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of Thomas and Gladys (Whitehead) Buckley. A lifelong Johnston resident, he was a Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had worked at the former Narragansett Brewery and was the former owner of Allendale Auto Body and Sales in Warwick.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Paula Diemer and her husband, George of Marlboro, MA, James E. Buckley, Jr. and his wife, Darlene of Scituate and Patrick Buckley of Johnston; his four grandsons: Jacob and Joshua Buckley, and Patrick and Christopher Vicca. He was the brother of M. Patricia Hjerpe of Cranston and Ronal Buckley of Johnston and the late Thomas, Donal, Richard, John and Gerald Buckley.

His Funeral was held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at noon in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation was December 14.
