(Ultra-violent revenge movie)

Keanu Reeves is ultra-cool as a retired hitman who has been hit by the death of his wife, surviving a car crash, and having his Mustang stolen by a gang of Russian hitmen. He survives all that, but when they kill his dog, well that is the straw that breaks John Wick’s back.

All this happens in the few opening minutes of this tense, ultra-violent revenge movie that is sparse on the dialogue but heavy on the action.

Be warned that this is not a movie for everyone. Although we are not witness to a lot of blood and gore, we do watch half the population of bad guys get shot and violently killed by the quick-witted, quick-shooting Wick.

Wick is drawn back into his previous profession as he hunts down the Russians who killed his dog, eliminating anyone who gets in his way...and there are many.

Michel Nyqvist plays the Russian mob leader whose son has performed the dastardly deed. He tells his son that Wick is not the Boogeyman. “He’s the one you call to kill the Boogeyman.”

Believe it or not, there is even some humor in the bloodbath, as the professional killers at times act unprofessionally.

There’s a $2 million contract out on Wick, which doesn’t faze him as he goes into the den of the bad guys, a swanky hotel where they hang out and follow a code of conduct. And of course, there is a no-holds-barred finale with a clever twist. All this over a blankety-blank dog!

Rated a big R, with violence, profanity and drugs. Little time for sex.
