Hurd heating up in legion playoffs
Aaron Bowen starts his delivery.

The Hurd Auto Mall American Legion team is making a run in the state playoffs. Hurd, the No. 7 seed, battled weather and a tough Shoreline team to earn the victory in its preliminary-round series over the weekend. That qualified Hurd for the eight-team double-elimination portion of the tournament, and Hurd got it off to a strong start with a 4-3 upset victory over No. 2 R&R Construction on Tuesday at McCarthy Field. Hurd was scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday against No. 4 Senerchia Post 74. The tournament continues all week, with the championship slated for Saturday.
