Hurd Auto misses out on legion postseason

Posted

It’s been a very out of character summer for the Hurd Auto Mall – Post 64 American Legion team, as it closed out the season with a 5-17 record and missed the playoffs.

Hurd never seemed to find its stride, winning the first game of the summer and then losing 11 of the next 12, including a nine-game losing streak. It won a pair of games last week 7-4 against Upper Deck – Post 86/14 and 4-3 against Team Stores USA – Post 22 to pick up some late-season momentum, but it lost the final two games of the regular season early this week.

The top eight teams make the playoffs in the new condensed 12-team league, and Hurd finished in 12th place overall, five games out.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin Saturday and run through Thursday, with Senerchia Post 74 as the top seed.
