Heritage Ballet Performs The Nutcracker

The holiday season is finally upon us, and traditions abound! Begin a holiday tradition of your own this year and attend a magical performance of the timeless ballet, The Nutcracker, with your loved ones. The Nutcracker is one of the most thrilling and unforgettable ballets of all time ~ beloved of all generations and still watched with child-like wonder year after year. It is the story of a young girl who is swept up in a dance of toys and delights that have come to life in graceful splendor on Christmas Eve. Resplendent with a villainous Mouse King and an heroic Nutcracker, a handsome prince, brave soldiers, sugar plum fairies, waltzing flowers and candy confections, this enchanting ballet is all the things that dreams are made of!

The original production of The Nutcracker was performed in St. Petersburg on December 18th, 1892. Fast forward 120 years to December of 2013 and to the historic Stadium Theater in Woonsocket. Here, in a theater that rivals a New York City ballet hall in beauty and elegance, the Heritage Ballet Company of Lincoln will perform this full-length classical ballet to captivated audiences of all ages. You will be transported in time and place as you watch this company of talented dancers recreate the magic of The Nutcracker, right before your very eyes.

On Saturday evening, December 21st at 7:30 and on Sunday afternoon, December 22nd at 2:00, the dancers of Heritage Ballet will thrill you with exquisite costumes and breathtaking choreography as they revisit the night when the child Clara meets her handsome Cavalier, the Nutcracker prince. There is also a special performance held for seniors and school groups on Friday, December 20th at 10:15 in the morning (tickets $10). Tickets for the 21st and 22nd performances range in price from $20 to $35 and can be purchased online at the Stadium Theater website, by phone or at the door.

The Heritage Ballet studio is located off Old Louisquisset Pike in Lincoln. Owned by Patricia Dubois, once a principal ballerina herself, this company features ballerinas as young as seven and others who have gone on to dance professionally. This production is the accumulation of a year's worth of tireless practice, and practice . . . and more practice.

In this year's production, The Nutcracker will be featuring dancers Heather Martinez, Whitney Goduto, Moriah Marquis, Briana Cotter, Kelsey Greene, Whitney Greene and Ballet Master Davide Vittorino as Cavalier, the Nutcracker Prince.
