Heritage Ballet: Join your favorite class any time

When you walk into the studio of Heritage Ballet, it is hard to tell who is having a better time, the class of three and four year olds leaping across the floor, or the group of delighted parents with their noses pressed against the glass observation windows. Pink abounds as tutus and leotards and slippers and ribbons adorn the bodies of blossoming ballerinas here, but there are some sweat pants and t-shirts too as a young boy joins the fun.

These bright-eyed faces are joyfully swirling, gliding and plié-ing, but the truth is, they are also learning all the pre-requisites to the dance moves their older peers have already mastered. Best of all, they are exercising, using their imaginations, becoming more coordinated and flexible, experiencing the joy of creative movement, and gaining confidence ~ all under the watchful, patient and encouraging eye of their instructor, Kasha. Kasha, a lifelong dancer with boundless energy, knows just how to tap the youthful enthusiasm of her students, and is able to captivate them so much that they hardly notice their adoring parents and grandparents as they stare on with wonder and awe.

Heritage Ballet offers ballet, jazz and creative dance classes to students ages 2 ½ years old through adulthood. Classes are taught by highly skilled instructors, most of whom have danced professionally and who were hand-selected by Dubois because they are not only experienced dancers but patient and talented teachers. The studio is a place for both young and old, serious and recreational dancers alike. While it does not participates in competitions, Heritage Ballet does stage two full length ballets every year, including this spring's classic "Sleeping Beauty". The season ends in a culmination dance for all the students to showcase their accomplishments for friends and family.

Located in Lincoln, Heritage Ballet is the passion and love of owner and former "ballet mistress" Patricia Dubois. Ms. Dubois opened Heritage Ballet to create a place where the dreams of hopeful dancers, just like this group of beginners, could be realized. The dream to float across a dance floor and to become a classically trained ballerina was the very same dream that Dubois imagined herself as a young child. She grew up to become the protégé of one of the most accomplished prima ballerinas of her time, Christine Hennessey, and now brings this magic and vision to her own studio.
