Girls’ volleyball, soccer squads making Johnston High proud

Posted

Along with the upcoming school year comes the upcoming fall sports season.

Girls’ sports dominate in the start of the school year. Girls’ volleyball and soccer start practice in the summer and have games up until November. Both sports teams give Johnston High School a good name. They play with respect, have fun and, hopefully, win.

The girls’ volleyball team has an unbelievable reputation that so far they are keeping up with. The past two years they have won the division and last year made it all the way to the championship at URI. With the help of their coaches, Gretta Lalli and Edward Saravo, the team so far is 3-0. The captains this year are Francesca Gaudiana, Dana Desmarais and Katherine Rocha. With their leadership and the girls’ hard work, they are looking for another great season ahead of them.

The girls’ soccer team is starting off the season right! So far they have won two games, tied one and only have one loss. The coaching staff includes Timothy Sprouls and Mrs. Areson, both teachers at Johnston High School. The captains for this year include Zenobia Griffen, Lauren Tedesco, Leah Gravel and Christina Hardman. All the girls have been working extremely hard in practice and trying their best in games to go far and have a successful season. Good luck girls!

In addition, please join us at our first blood drive of the year on Sept. 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
