Four Johnston residents are among the 11 people who last Thursday night were re-elected to lead the ageless Italo American Club of Rhode Island during the 2016 calendar year.

Linda Folcarelli was installed as secretary, while fellow Johnstonians Peter Lombardi and Peter Montaquila Jr. were elected to the prestigious Board of Directors.

George Lazzareschi Jr., who grew up in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence but now lives in Johnston with his wife Lori, has been a member of the club for over 20 years and was re-elected as vice president.

“It’s a special honor to be part of the club,” said Folcarelli, who is a life-long Johnston resident. “I’ve been a member for the past four years and have enjoyed every minute and every event. They’re always special.”

Lombardi – who is retired – serves as vice chairman of the Johnston Senior Center Advisory Board, which is chaired by Rhonda Sasa. Montequila, meanwhile, works with his father at the family business, Finest Car Wash & Auto Center, that’s located on Pleasant Valley Parkway in Providence.

Anthony Napolitano, who has been affectionately known as “Nappy” throughout his life and grew up on Providence’s Federal Hill, was re-elected president. He has served the Italo American Club in a number of capacities, most notably as vice president and board member before being elected president two years ago.

“Nappy is a great, great man and leader,” Folcarelli said. “He has spent over a decade helping the club.”

Michael Damiani, who grew up in the Silver Lake section of Providence and now lives in Cranston, was re-elected treasurer. He is a part owner in Treasurer of Cara, Inc., a home health company based in Warwick. Michael and his wife Beverly make their home in Cranston.

The Board of Directors also includes Richard Colasanti, David Cappola, Alex DiGiglio, Tom Norato, and Joseph Rendine.

The Italo American Club, which was founded in 1896 and was once located on the northern end of Broadway in Providence, makes its home in the historic former Berarducci Funeral Home at 477 Broadway in the capital city, which also houses the highly popular Spirito’s Restaurant.
