Canned food drive motivates students to help those in need

Posted

The Johnston Senior High School is hosting a canned food drive Nov. 17 through Nov. 21.

The members of the SADD organization (Students Against Dangerous Decisions) will be collecting cans from each homeroom every morning.

The homeroom that brings in the most cans will be awarded with a breakfast compliments of SADD.

This motivates the students, along with giving them a sense of fulfillment for helping the less fortunate.

The cans will be packaged on Friday and delivered to Our Lady of Grace Church, where they will be distributed to those in need.

SADD works in conjunction with National Honor Society, which also collects donations from students and teachers to provide turkeys for needy families.

This is a great way to get kids involved in the school and community.
