Cookies, carols, and camaraderie.
Those were just a few of the ingredients Akshay K. Talwar combined for what may have been one of the recent holiday season’s most unique Christmas parties.
Talwar, who is a noted thought leader in elder care and owns and operates Briarcliffe Gardens Memory Care Assisted Living Center, also had three special guests at this year’s party that was actually held in two buildings at the state-of-the-art facility in Johnston.
Heading the list was U.S. Rep. James Langevin, who along with other special guests enjoyed music by such noted entertainers as Vini Ames and Ann Dupre along with homemade Christmas cookies, eggnog, and spiced apple cider prepared and served by Briarcliffe Manor’s skilled chef and kitchen staff.
“Akshay really knows how to throw a party,” said Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, who was one of three special guests, while chatting with Langevin and his District Director Seth Klaiman inside the spacious living room at Briarcliffe. “This entire place is absolutely beautiful, and I’m proud and honored that we have such a state-of-the-art facility here in Johnston.”
William J. Murphy, a prominent attorney and former speaker of the House of Representatives, was also among the day’s dignitaries.
“The entire Briarcliffe Gardens and Briarcliffe Cottage is absolutely stunning,” he said. “The state of Rhode Island can be proud of Akshay’s entire development.”
“We were honored to have Congressman Langevin come here and see the world-class facility,” said Stefany L. Reed, the program and marketing director at Briarcliffe Gardens. “This was a wonderful opportunity for Akshay to share Briarcliffe’s past, present, and future plans for development in an ever-changing healthy care environment. I think he enjoyed the cookies, too.”
Langevin also took time and chatted with staffers at both assisted living residences located at the Briarcliffe campus.
