Beer and wine tasting to boost St. Rocco beautification efforts

Norm Hale, who owns and operates Market Fine Wines & Spirits at 11 Commerce Way, is about to form a unique partnership with the outreach program at St. Rocco’s Roman Catholic Church in Johnston.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, Market – which back in November moved from its former home at 1412 Atwood Ave. into a new, larger store next to Stop & Shop Supermarket – will co-host a unique Craft Beer and Wine Tasting inside Café Rocco, a.k.a. the St. Rocco School gymnasium.

Tickets are now on sale – as well as after all Masses at the Roman Catholic parish – for $20 per person. Admission includes tasting a variety of craft beers and wines as well as light food, co-chairpersons Debbie DiFazio and Richard Montella announced.

“There will be a variety of commercial and homemade wines,” said John Ricci, the Roman Catholic parish’s public relations dynamo. “This promises to be a fun and fruitful event for the parish.”

Ricci also announced that the St. Rocco Women’s Guild, which plays a major role in the parish’s annual four-day festival held every August, is coordinating Saturday’s fundraiser along with the Holy Name Society.

Proceeds will benefit the outreach program, which Ricci said supports any and all beautification projects on the St. Rocco property that’s located at 927 Atwood Ave.

Ricci said St. Rocco is planning to hold other fundraising events in an ongoing effort to keep the property beautified, whether it be for a new lawn, flowers, or work on the driveway and walkways.

“This is without question a unique partnership,” Ricci said. “Everyone at St. Rocco is very appreciative of what Market Fine Wines & Spirits is doing to help make this fundraiser a success. Let’s hope that it’s as much fun as our annual festival, and could perhaps develop into yet another special tradition for our parish.”

The event is open to the public. To secure tickets or for more information, call 401-942-5203.
