Barnes runs annual Thanksgiving food drive

The fifth grade students at Barnes Elementary School helped parent volunteers bag up the Thanksgiving baskets for families in the school community on Tuesday morning.

"This was a last-minute food drive with all else going on, but Barnes families always come through," said Kristen Brien, noting that besides all of the food donated by the families, five baskets with five gift cards were also donated from the Johnston Fire Department Local 1950.

"The fire department does something for us every year," said Bethany Littlefield.

Each basket will be donated to a needy family from Barnes Elementary School.
