Animal control officer deserves praise for her work

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to show my appreciation and gratitude to Johnston Animal Control Officer Erin Medeiros.

I was returning home from my vacation and noticed an injured cat crying in pain on my front lawn. I immediately contacted the animal control officer, but unfortunately the office was closed. I called the Johnston Police Department and they informed me Officer Medeiros was off duty. The police officer called her at home and within 20 minutes Officer Medeiros arrived at my home.

Officer Medeiros took time away from her family to rescue this cat. Sometimes we take the people in our community for granted. I would like to take a moment to express our thanks to Officer Medeiros and for your dedication and compassion towards animals.
