Well written editorial on a very important story for Rhode Island. But, he, the house bill once mention the costs associated with the extremely extensive legislation. The bill covers a lot and legislators should be fully informed of the consequences of no action and the costs of action. With this editorial Mr. Filarski lobbies well for legislation that he may have written. He should have disclosed any ties to the legislation he or agencies he is connected to had to the legislation. But, above all laying out the costs should be first and foremost for Rhode Island residents. Full disclosure and transparency are key to moving Rhode Island forward and out of the corrupt practices of the past.

I agree global warming (whatever the cause) and rising sea levels are a key concern for Rhode Island. But, we must depend on a comprehensive regional and national plan for the most vital projects. Sure we can invest in local projects, but lets not spend millions of dollars on a program that we should partnered with the federal government on. I implore members of the general assembly to understand the costs and what programs will need to be cut to fund this legislation.
